Library

Welcome to the George Washington Library Media Center's Webpage

In the library, we will read books, conduct research, learn how to safely use and navigate online resources, all while adding to the learning that is happening in the classroom.

And of course, we will be checking out books!

I am excited for a new year of exploring, learning, playing and growing through reading.

Thank you for helping your child become a kind, safe, and responsible reader!

Sincerely, Mrs. Courtney

Mission

Here in the library, we strive to nurture students’ love of reading. We seek to inspire curiosity and educate our children to become detectives in a world of print and media. We aim to create safe Digital Citizens and we encourage each child to find his or her own unique way of contributing to the school community as well as to the greater city of White Plains.

Schedule

Each class will come to the library on its assigned day (A-F) for 40 minutes. With permission from their classroom teacher students are welcomed to visit the Library to exchange books whenever there is not a class.

Circulation Policy

Students in grades K-2 may take home one book per visit. Students in grades 3-5 may take home two books.

Books are due back the next time students have library.  A student will not be allowed to check out a new book until the previous book(s) they have borrowed has been returned.

If a student forgets their book at home, he/she will be allowed to read a book of their choice or select a book to be kept on hold until the next morning.

Fines and Lost Books

There are no fines for returning a book late, but students will not be able to take new books home until the book is returned.

Students are responsible for lost or damaged books and will be charged the replacement cost of the book if it cannot be found.  If you would like to replace the book with the same title and edition, that is also an option. Please either reach out directly or through your child with any concerns.
